About me

Being born into a family who shared the passion for electronics, computers and wanting to know how things tick fuelled my drive and passion to look at the world differently.

This out look assisted me as I ventured into the working world and started with E-Learning developement. From deep diving into the requirements as well as the needs and difficulties people had with the current structure of courses. The main thing I had noticed from the feedback I had asked for, was there were far to many clicks going into the systems. So I began the journey of how to shorten the processes and make a customers experience smooth and easily accessable to any system we had used.

Be it physical hardware or software the idea of customer data, feedback and the information we accumulated from daily interactions propelled me towards more effiecient problem solving. Before I knew it I had grown to Product Manager of 3 specific areas namely, Lantech Industrial Switching, UPS and Alternative Energy.

Collecting of data and market analysis became important here. This sparked my developement growth, allowing me to learn and develop in Python. I utilized this knowledge to generate scripts to bring back substantial filtered data which was used for research and accumulating leads. Steming my growth and constant learning to a more interconnected world of hardware and software, I was able to link my knowledge of servers and IOT for a collective structure and understanding.

This is my journey thus far and I only expect to grow further in the future.

Consultant

As an aspiring entrepreneur I have taken over the family business and utilized it as my own to venture into as many fields as i possibly can in the spaces that I am passionate about.

From a services and solutions point of view i have created a few new revenue streams within the company. Starting with Alternative Energy by providing clients with UPS solutions, Solar systems, Battery Systems and packaged it with the companies pre-existing product line of Lightning Protection. This has allowed me to further understand what it takes to do the all in one package of providing hardware to a client. From procuring stock, to Installing stock, to making sure that the client at the end of the day has a fully fledged system that runs efficiently.

In the consulting space is yet another revenue stream I have created for the company. This involves providing clients with web and app development solutions. My involvement on the software side ranges from daily tasks that include me developing things like Python applications from scratch as well as developing a start to finish web site, to go with it. I have also incorporated the modern day Hardware required to provide analytics and venture into the future sustainability and development of company innovations. My hardware involvement in this would be providing something like an IOT hardware device, to talk to my in house developed applications, to provide a finished product to client.

Nology

AudioCodes JPM

At Nology I was brought on to assist take care and bring up a brand called AudioCodes.

The goal was to get AudioCodes back on track as there had been a great technical component to the product. In the process I had managed to simplify and create training material for both Sales staff and Customers. This greatly assisted the increase of sales, along with various processes to simplify the entire process.

The product being quite technical made this a challange to go to market, but with a simplified and structured direction various plans and marketing strategies were incorporated to rapidly grow the market share to the competitors.


June 2018 –  May 2020

Kairosafety

IT Director

Kairosafety was a business venture that a business partner and I went on to see if we could grow a company together. We had purchased the company ourselves as well as its health and safety system which provided safety files to construction and mining sites for safety regulation purposes. Our thinking towards this was to innovate the process of how safety files were generated for client

We took the safety system that was in place and redesigned it to provide a client with a complete health and safety file within 24 hours, which would usually take a traditional estimate of 5 days to build.

In our company we had employed 2 staff members as safety representatives which we provided as a resource to client which formed apart of our consultancy agreement.

Industrial Automation & Control

Sales & Technical Manager

I was head hunted for the position to manage their sales department and technical staff. The goal was to regain traction in the market for their industrial switching products Hirschmann. During this time I had travelled to most mines in the South African region, arranged roadshows at various events all the way to Zambia and Ghana. In dealing with various new brands I also did all the certification courses for the Hirschmann range, Advantech and Mobotix.

There were various long term clients gained with new technologies never before implemented using LoRa Wan, and IOT solutions which I was able to integrate into the Hirschmann network environment. This grew the expansion into Zambia and the copper belt.

Duxbury Networking

Account Manager & Product Manager

I started as an Account Manager to develop the market for their UPS range. After a couple months I was promoted to Product Manager and by the end of my first year, I was a Product Manager for the UPS range and their Lantech Industrial Division. For both these brands Marketing, Customer Feedback were curcial to expanding the market. This also entailed dealing with vendors locally as well as overseas for the imported products. Having a complete technical knowledge to assist the sales teams in JHB, DBN and CPT, design solutions and assist clients around the country and in africa.

During all this I still looked after 200+ accounts as an Account Manager for all other products we distributed. In my time at Duxbury I also assisted as the 2IC for Sophos Cyber security and started the alternative energy division with a colleague within the company to expand our offerings with in wireless.

NewAge Energy

Sales

Daily tasks consisted of maintaining current clients and identifying new business. Making sure the other sales team was on target and assisted them when needed for the various intricacies of product knowledge and implementation. Made sure we had enough stock for our run rate business, and at times assisting in various areas of the business such as production. In my time with the company I also implemented a CRM and Training Program for products for all our current and new clients.

2008 –  2009

Discovery Health

E-Learning Designer

My daily tasks I was responsible for the server and the platform we created, edited, designed, and deployed the various surveys and e-learning modules. Also had meetings with the various clients to find out their needs and confirm the exact structure of each and every learning module. The system used was Perception Question Mark, running on a Windows server R8, as a web service. These modules were deployed out to various call centres around the country and the occasional module company wide for total data collection on various aspects from a corporate ancillary services point of view.

Data has become the basis of all decision-making processes whether it’s a business or a non-profit organization. Therefore, web scraping has found its applications in every endeavour of note in contemporary times.

The world has grown past the conventional hardware being just a simple use a network controller or home automation system.

We now live with a very connected world. As a requirement, we need to reassure that our hardware devices such as IOT or Lithium Power cells that stem from solar are integrated into data centers.

When it comes to things like IOT, the sky is the limit.
